ADELAIDE CUNNINGHAM

September 20, 2012

ADELAIDE (EDYTHE) CUNNINGHAM It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, and Great- Grandmother Adelaide Cunningham on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Fred Douglas Lodge at the age of 87 years. Adelaide is survived by her children, Ron (Carolle), Susan (Jim), Wayne (Diane); grandchildren, Patricia (Jean-Francois), David, Allison (Ron), Rob, Erin (Doug), Stephen (Amber); great-grandchildren, Alexis, Nicolas, Philippe, Deirdre, Camille, Katie, and Jon. She was predeceased by her husband John; mother Adelaide; father Joseph; sisters Anne, Florence and Marg; and brother Joseph. On May 17, 1925 Adelaide was born in Winnipeg. Prior to getting married, she worked at Canada Packers and was involved in the union. After getting married and taking time off to have a family, Adelaide worked at Ashdowns in the electrical department. For many years she was an active member in the Canadian Polish Athletic Club (CPAC), volunteering countless hours at Monday night Bingo. She was also very involved with her Seniors group and with the congregation at the Atlantic – Garden City United Church. Adelaide was very giving of her time and volunteered as a block parent, at Folklorama, and often was busy knitting or sewing for various charities as well as friends and family. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for her children and their families regularly. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to her and she took great pleasure in their accomplishments. A memorial service celebrating Adelaide’s life will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Atlantic – Garden City United Church, 725 Atlantic Avenue. The family would like to thank the health care staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Adelaide’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.Publish Date: Sep 26, 2012ADELAIDE (EDYTHE) CUNNINGHAM On Thursday, September 20, 2012 Edythe died at Fred Douglas Lodge Personal Care Home at the age of 87 years.
