Aline Buraczewski
April 12 1929 – Feb 8 2023

Peacefully at the age of 93 after making it through the Covid times and battling with Alzheimer’s, Aline passed. She was born Lodz, Poland .

At the tender age of 14 she was captured for forced labour in the Second World War. She was liberated in ‘ 1945 and went to Displaced Persons camp , where she met and married Michal/Michael Szymkow. After war ended they had the chance to immigrate to Canada and they took it, initially landing in Carmen and then after their first child Barbara , came to Winnipeg and had three more children a daughter (Gloria)and twin boys (Ben and Art).

Later she found her soul mate Stephen (Steve) and they were together till his passing in 2004. Unfortunately there was a house fire in 2008 and all was gone. Aline then moved on to live at Amber Meadows and then finally Fred Douglas.

Aline in her years loved to do gardening, reading, volunteering, Bingo, casino trips to states, and to play cards specifically 31, Hola and rummoli. She loved candles and constantly had one burning.

Her and Steve (Szczepek) loved to fish, blueberry and mushroom pick. She was a talented cook, she cooked and catered for several restaurants and hotels throughout Winnipeg. She also spent a fair number of years being a nanny and housekeeper. She was involved with legion 34, polish combatants assoc., Sokol, Polish Fraternal Aid Society and St. John’s cantius. She loved to be involved there volunteering, bingo and casino trips to states mingling or drinking and having a good time dancing the night away.
She gave the best exuberant bear hugs or big kisses to everyone’s hand. She loved to squish granddaughters Darcie and Veronica (Roni), and luckily was able to do same to a Great granddaughter Karlie.

She will be laid to rest in Holy Ghost cemetery where she often joked to everyone that she had two there waiting for her.

She can now carry on with the things she loved once again.Sincere thank you and appreciation to the Fred Douglas staff who cared
for her.

Dance away Nana, – Na Zdrowie! (Nah zdrov-e-yay)
