ALVIN CECIL ROSS
Alvin was born on September 14, 1930 in Pembroke, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents Marion and Charlie Ross. He is survived by many nephews and nieces.
Alvin grew up in Cobden, Ontario along with his brother Darrell (Betty), and his sisters, Evelyn (Harold), Ann (Grant) and Wilma (Doug).
He received his early education at S.S. #1, in Ross Township, and then at the other elementary and high schools in nearby Cobden.
After completing high school, Alvin joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and while stationed in Winnipeg, he met Mercy Charzewski.
After a brief time away from Winnipeg, he returned, and on September 3, 1955, married Mercy at the Atlantic Avenue United Church.
He furthered his education at Red River College by completing a course in Mechanical Technology in 1968, and then began working at Bristol Aerospace where he stayed until retiring in 1991.
In retirement, Al spent many hours working as a volunteer interpreter at the Fort Whyte Centre, which he enjoyed very much. He was also a Director in the Winnipeg Gladiolas and Dahlia Society and was their Show Chairman for several years.
In recent years, Alvin became well known to all on Mulvey Avenue for having the best vegetable garden on the block, for being a great pet-sitter, and for sharing and giving project guidance in his basement workshop.
In Winnipeg, Alvin will be much missed by his close friends, Gila, Stephen, Minna, Debbie, Glen, and Louise.
Alvin was predeceased by his wife Mercy, his sister Evelyn, and his brothers-in-law, Grant and Doug.
