Andrew Allen “Al” Seredynski

August 3, 1946 – August 12, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew Allen Seredynski, known affectionately as “Allen” or simply “Al,” on August 12, 2025, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 79. Allen was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Seredynski, and his brother Stephen. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Wilma, his four sons—Jason, Kurt (Muylan), Bryan (Vara), and Tyler—his siblings Dorothy, Leonard (Jo Anne), and Bridgette (John), and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives he touched deeply.

Born at St. Boniface Hospital on August 3, 1946, Allen grew up in the home his parents purchased on Cathedral Avenue in Winnipeg. He attended local schools before completing his high school years at St. Paul’s High School and Sisler High, where his warm personality, quick wit, and natural leadership were already evident.

After a brief time at the University of Manitoba, Allen pursued his passion for numbers and business, earning his Registered Industrial Accountant (RIA) and Chartered Management Accountant (CMA) designations. In 1978, he joined a newly formed company, Winpak Ltd., beginning a career that spanned more than 26 years. At Winpak, he held various functional and leadership roles, where his colleagues came to know him as a team builder, problem solver, and someone who always found a way to bring people together—whether at a boardroom table, a company curling match, or a charity fundraiser.

In 2005, Allen embarked on a new chapter, becoming a real estate agent with Re/Max. He enjoyed helping families find their homes, building connections, and staying active in the community. He mostly resided in Winnipeg but also spent time living in Calgary, Alberta, and Aurora, Ontario, making lasting friendships wherever he went.

Retirement did little to slow Allen down.  His life’s work extended far beyond his professional career — it was in the countless hours he gave to others. He served in leadership roles at the Assiniboine Curling Club, organizing tournaments, fundraisers, and always helping out where needed.  As a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, he held executive positions, coordinated projects, and championed charitable causes. He volunteered as a Winnipeg Airport Ambassador, and most recently with Assiniboine Park Conservancy where he enjoyed firepit duty at Zoolights and Boo at the Zoo. Allen’s service was never about recognition—it was about making a difference.

Allen and Wilma shared 42 wonderful years together, building a life full of shared adventures.  They enjoyed curling side by side, taking dance lessons, cycling, and attending theatre performances.  Their passion for travel took them on memorable journeys, from European tours to cruises, to immersing themselves in culture from afar while visiting their son Tyler in Japan.  They also enjoyed keeping active together through their Fit & Flex exercise group and gym activities.

Despite facing medical challenges over the years, including eyesight issues, a heart condition, and recent knee surgery, Allen’s dedication to family, friends, and community never wavered. His resilience was matched only by his generosity.

Those who knew Allen will remember him as a man of strong values and deep faith, someone who could light up a room with his smile, laughter, and good-natured humour. He was the glue that brought people together—whether around a curling rink, a backyard BBQ, or a warm firepit. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who listened intently, cared deeply, and gave freely of his time and energy.

Allen taught us the importance of working hard for your success, giving back to your community, and living with determination and kindness. He believed in doing what was right, in building connections, and in leaving the world a better place.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2400 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Following the Mass, a gathering will take place in the church hall, where all are welcome to join in sharing stories, memories, and a celebration of Allen’s life. Burial will follow at approximately 1:30 p.m. at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, a charity of choice in Allen’s honour.

Allen’s family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, service, and community spirit will continue to live on in all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
