Angela Edith Jamieson
November 2, 1959 - March 14, 2025
Angela Edith Jamieson
With profound sadness, the family of Angela Jamieson announce her passing on March 14, 2025.
Angela was predeceased by her sister Cheryl and her mother Eileen.
She is survived by her father Gordon, brother Don, nephews Kyle (Morgan), Kurtis (Amy) niece Kaitlyn (Brayden), and brother-in-law Glen.
Angela graduated from the Creative Communications program at Red River Community College in 1979. She began her career as a reporter in Carman, Manitoba, then moved to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, to continue her work in journalism. Her journey then took her to Red Deer, Calgary, and Edmonton, where she worked for many years in communications and public affairs for the Government of Alberta and a private consulting firm.
Although she loved her work and friends in Alberta, Angela deeply missed her family and eventually decided to return to Manitoba. She joined Communications Services Manitoba, where she applied her expertise in communications, strategic planning, crisis management, and media relations across several government portfolios. Rising to the role of Director, Public Affairs, she worked with dedication until her retirement in 2020. Her teams quickly learned about the power of her ‘red pen’ and how she could carve clarity from chaos, improving every document she touched. And when they didn’t, her green “laser-eyes” did the trick.
Despite her many strengths, Angela was famously directionally-challenged. Driving with her was always an adventure that often included lots of spontaneous detours.
Above all, family was everything to Angela. She loved and cared for her mother and father, and shared a strong bond with her brother, as they supported each other through life’s challenges. She adored her niece and nephews, providing wise counsel for them whenever she was called upon, and was often affectionately referred to as the ‘Aunt on Grant’. Seeing Kyle, Kurtis and Kaitlyn happily married was a highlight in her life.
Angela loved reading and music, watching a great show on television and going to the movies with friends. Curious and eclectic in her interests, she never stopped learning.
A true introvert/extrovert, her sense of humour and mischievousness shone through whether she was at a dinner party, spending time with friends and family, or with co-workers in the boardroom. When it was time to recharge her batteries, she found comfort in the quiet of her home.
Angela was very attuned to the people she loved and could often sense when something was amiss, reaching out to them because her ‘Spidey-sense’ was tingling.
Throughout her life, Angela faced a number of health challenges, which she met head-on with characteristic determination and strength.
She was a connoisseur of all things shiny – like a magpie. Her love of precious stones and custom jewellery was expressed through meaningful pieces chosen both for herself and as heartfelt gifts for others.
Angela had a deep love for animals and a gift for bonding with everyone’s pets. She eventually adopted her beloved cat Bailey, providing her with a safe and happy home filled with love and affection.
She had a rare ability to nurture friendships, both near and far across the years, making each person feel special in their own way. Her warmth, wit, and wisdom will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Angela’s family and friends extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent.
