 ANGELA GEORGINA GREEN

January 2, 1957 – January 20, 2023

Peacefully, after a long courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my beloved wife, Angela and the mother of our son Andrew. She passed away on January 20, 2023 at the age of 66, shortly after celebrating her birthday.

Angela was born in Iserlohn, Germany. She was placed into an orphanage in her early years of life and then was adopted by Greville and Christine Jones in England. The family came to Canada in the late 1960’s. Angela remained in Manitoba for the rest of her life. Her parents returned to Engalnd in the late 1970’s.

Angela is survived by her husband James (Jim) of 42 years and her only son Andrew. She was predeceased by her parents Greville and Christine Jones. She also leaves to mourn, Laurel Fraser (John), Ken Green (Mary) and Arliss Kurtz (Ken), as well as numoerous nephews, niece and other extended family members and friends.

Angela was a devoted mom and wife to her family. Throughout the many years of marriage, Angela had to deal with several health issues; bi-polar, schizoaffective disorder and the latest, cancer. When the issues were under control, with help from some doctors and medication, she made the best of her life being a wife, mother and maintaining a good circle of family and friends.

She developed several hobbies over the years, starting with plastic canvas and then being introduced to cross-stitching by her sister-in-law Laurel. This became a passion of hers as a number of projects went to family and friends. Lastly, she had an appetite for reading. Angela could always be found with a book beside her comfy chair, in her tote bag when she went for her appointments, and her quiet place in her office with her Bible. Also on road trips to Grand Forks, Fargo, Calgary, Nipawin and Gimili, book(s) were a constant companion.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of oncology at the Victoria Hospital, Cancer Care Manitoba, especially nurse Shawna, Dr. Ogaranko and Dr. Daeninck. Also to the staff at the Grace Hospital and a thank you to the 5th and 3rd floors during Angela’s last couple of weeks before her passing. Thank you to Dr. Hiebert for making her comfortable in her last week.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Grant Memorial Church, 877 Wilkes Avenue. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment to take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be amde in memory and honour of Angela to the Peer Connections Manitoba (Formerly Manitoba Schizophrenia Society).
