Shortly after my father died from cancer, my mother purchased a house on Conway Street which was 2 doors down from the Groom’s. My father’s parents also immigrated to Canada from Ukraine. Over the years, whenever our family needed help, we could count on Anita and Bruce to lend us a hand. During the summer holidays, at 3 o’clock in the afternoon, I‘d go over to their house, and Anita and I would visit together in the backyard, filled with flowerbeds, until it was time to go in and prepare supper. During our time together, Anita taught me how to care for my family, home, and plants; and I grew up sharing Anita’s passion for people, Nature, homemaking, reading, fashion, shopping, dancing, listening to music, and travelling. After our family moved, I visited Bruce and Anita on numerous occasions and often ran into them at the local shopping centers. I still know their phone number by heart. When my mother died, Anita and Bruce attended her funeral. Often while tending to the plants in my home and garden, I think of my dear friend Anita. Thank you Anita, I love you!

My heartfelt prayers for Mr. Groom, Rick, Larry, Stacey and your families in the passing of your wife, Mom and Grandmother. Having left Winnipeg as a young girl (for Big City Toronto) it's been many years since we were in touch with the Groom family, but my family's memories of life on Conway street include many wonderful times with the Groom family and of course, Mrs. Groom's loving nature, her wonderful smile and great giggle. She loved her family and took great delight in her boys. We remember her and Mr. Groom sitting on the front porch, watching the kids playing and always having a smile and kind word for all of us. We were lucky to have her for a neighbour and remember her fondly. The Forth Family (from 305 Conway)

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Groom. She was a kind soul, gentle soul. Always a lady and a good friend to my Mom.
