Anita Nicholson (nee Pietryka)

We are sad to announce the sudden passing of our sister Anita on January 22, 2025 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 70.

Anita was born May 14, 1954 in Heilbronn Germany, emigrating to Canada in December 1959.

Anita was predeceased by her Husband David Nicholson, her parents Elsa & Ted, her sisters Mary and Josie, brothers-in-law Art, David and Jim; sister-in-law Ruby.

Anita is survived by her sisters Heidi, Susan (Darrell), brothers Alex (Barb), Richard, Ken and Ted (Marjorie).

Anita grew up and spent most of her life living in the West End of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

She was very proud to be an employee of the Health Sciences Centre for 45+ years. Her journey started as a Nurses Aid then as a supply coordinator and proudly becoming a purchasing agent for the operating rooms.

Anita made many life long friends while employed at HSC.

Anita was always the first to put forth a plan of action to arrange the next family dinner. Always making sure everyone’s favourite dishes were on the menu. Christmas was her favourite. She enjoyed shopping for ideas to give everyone something to open. She really enjoyed the White Elephant gift exchange.

Anita will be remembered as a very generous sister who was always there to help any of us in need.

The family would like to thank everyone who has reached out with kind words, flowers and offers to help.

In keeping with Anita’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service.

Rest in Peace Anita, you will be missed.
