ANNA LUISE BINTZ

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anna Luise Bintz, affectionately known as Oma on Sunday August 10th, 2025, at 98 years old.

Left to mourn is her daughter Monika (John), grandchildren Sara McCombs (Kyle), Justin Norris (Carly), great grandchildren Delilah and Rory McCombs and soon to be baby boy Norris.

She also leaves behind her niece Marion Dawson, great nephew Jason (Jasmin) and their children Jake and Sadie. Anna was predeceased by her husband Ferdinand Bintz (Opa) in March 2004 and her great niece Tracy Glover Broussard in January 2024.

Anna was born in Germany on January 13, 1927 and officially made the move to Winnipeg with her husband Ferdinand in 1951.

The most important thing to Oma was family. In earlier years she was enlisted to babysit her grandchildren Justin and Sara where she showered them with all the love and countless sleepovers at her and Opa’s home.

She made the long drive from the North End to Charleswood to care for her grandchildren while we worked. On a constant basis we would come home to a pristinely clean house and every child in the neighbourhood sitting at our kitchen table while she happily prepared lunches and snacks for all.

When Oma lost her husband, she moved to Charleswood to be closer to us and continued to enjoy caring for, loving and feeding us. She enjoyed nothing more than to have her family around.

Unfortunately, in 2018 Oma was diagnosed with dementia and moved to West Park Manor for care. There she enjoyed attending various activities provided by the Recreation Department. She loved music, watching soccer and sporting her Bomber jersey on game days. She also loved her Tim Horton’s coffee which was one of her special requests when visiting her.

West Park Manor became home, and their staff became her second family as well as ours. It was at West Park Manor that Oma spent her final days. We cannot express enough our sincere thanks for the absolutely amazing care and love Oma received from the staff over the years. The love, support and understanding made Oma’s and our family’s experience there so enjoyable,

Oma, it was an absolute honour having you as a mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Thank you for loving us with all your heart. Until we meet again,

love you!
