ANNE WILDFONG
February 20, 1928 – January 1 ,2024

Anne was born and raised on the Kaminski family farm in Brooksby, Saskatchewan. Her formative years consisted of daily farm chores which instilled work ethics that she maintained her entire life.
She and her siblings rode to school in a horse drawn buggy. The farm provided enough to sustain the family with basic food supplies. Mostly everything was homemade from scratch, clothing was sewn and mom was no stranger to hand—me-down clothes. Life was simple but challenging and you had to be resourceful in those days.

Anne eventually moved to the big city of Winnipeg. She embarked on a hairdressing career working at The Mall. Later she operated her own business “Biltmore Beauty Salon” in the Boyd Bldg. on Portage Avenue. She served her valued clientele there until she was 80 years old and continued to create fashionable hairdos, cuts, colours and perms from home into her early 90’s.

Mom did some travelling which took her to New York, Barbados, West Indies, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Jamaica and quite a few road trips within Canada and the USA.

I’m 1969 mom went on a jaunt with a dear family friend to Laclu,Ontario and came home to let us know she purchased a cottage property while there. Little did we know Laclu was to become our heaven on earth place to be. A place where you could drink the lake water and be at one with nature. A place where many friends gathered and laughter filled the air for decades It didn’t take mom long to find and identify wild mushrooms and whip up tasty wild blueberry pies. She left us this legacy to cherish for generations to come, a place that holds wonderful memories and we will continue to enrich our lives there and make more memories of our own.

Anne enjoyed gardening at home and had a green thumb that produced an array of flowers and plants in the yard. We will miss her perogies, borscht and baking. Mom was a vibrant, independent woman with spunk and charisma. A true matriarch whose generosity, care and concern for family was evident and appreciated. Our memories of “Granny” remain close at heart. Our love for her is eternal.

Anne was predeceased by her Father Anton, Mother Rosalia, Brothers: Frank & Peter & Mike. Sisters: Victoria, Nancy & Caroline. She was also predeceased by her Husband Donald Wildfong and her most precious Great Grandson Tristan Wildfong.

Anne is survived by her daughter Donna, Grandson Jayson, Granddaughter Crystal (Father Randy) as well as her Great Granddaughters Kaylee and Emma.

Special thanks to “Pia” and the staff at CD2 Riverview Health Centre for their top-notch care and compassion.
