ANNELEISE ELFRIEDE BERTHA KAMCHEN

(NEE SCHULZ)

1931 – 2019

 Peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2019, Sonja, as she was known to her friends and family, passed away at Grace Hospital at the age of 88 years.

Beloved wife of Alex and mother of Richard, Sonja was predeceased by brothers Alfred and Arthur, and sister Andra.

Born in Boizenburg, Germany, she survived fascism and escaped communism, arriving in Canada in 1955. Sonja and Alex built a wonderful life together in Winnipeg. She became a mother in 1974, one whose love and support will always be cherished.

Extremely creative, Sonja poured her talents into sewing and crafts, and became a big hit during the early years of Christkindlmarkt. She was also passionate about gardening, a painter, and adored by her many dogs. Her warmth, kindness, generosity and tireless spirit will be profoundly missed by those she leaves behind.

In compliance with Sonja’s wishes a private service will be held.
