ARTHUR AMES

ARTHUR EDWIN AMES Ed Ames, aged 74 years, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB, after a brief battle with lung cancer. On October 15, 1938 Ed was born in Minitonas, MB. He married Carol Jackson in Brandon, MB, on July 16, 1964, where they lived for the first year. They moved to Swan River, MB, in 1965. They moved back to Brandon in 1984, then to St. Theresa Point, MB, in 1990, where he spent his retirement enjoying hunting, fishing, ski-dooing, and boat taxiing. Ed leaves to mourn, his wife Carol; two sons, Kevin Ames and Jenna Machan, and Vernon Ames and Lisa Makasoff; five grandchildren, Monique Ames of Calgary, AB, Braeden Ames of Melita, MB, Zackary and Alexzander Ames of Cranberry Portage, MB, and Ryan Flaherty of Winnipeg, MB; one great-grandchild, Bethany of Melita, MB, and two sisters, Julia Gulash of Edmonton, AB, and Alice Bosiak of Dauphin, MB. He was predeceased by one daughter, Debra Leigh Ames. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in Knox United Church, Minitonas, MB. Interment will follow at the Minitonas Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Douglas Wagner, Brian Riddell, Kenny Bresky, Norman Bresky, and Brent Williamson. Urn Bearer will be Jim Niven. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Arthur Edwin Ames honour, to the Manitoba Lung Association.
