Left to forever cherish Clint’s memory are his mother, Hilda; brothers Glen (Sylvia) and Doug; nieces and nephews Jennifer, Heidi (Michel), Sara (Alex), Adam (Jaimi), Matthew (Tracie), Amanda (Justus); as well as by numerous cousins and family friends. The family would also like to give special mention to Rita. Clint was predeceased by his father, Cec Decker. While Clint had an intellectual disability with its attendant limitations, he worked hard at everything he did. Clint tried to please, and never disappointed anyone. He grew up in Deer Lodge, attending school at a time when there were few supports for children with his disability. As a result, Clint kept falling behind and these were difficult years for him, but as he did throughout his life, Clint persevered, never missing a single day of school, and he acquired impressive basic skills. Linwood School principal Mr. Wallace is fondly remembered for his watchful support. Clint always liked to stay busy, and in October, 1962, he began working at ARC Industries, which later became Versatech, and, later still, ImagineAbility. When he turned 65, Clint actually retired for a few days, but he soon became bored and went back to work, a testament to the wonderful, supportive people who operate ImagineAbility and to the special community of persons who work there. Every year, his favourite event was the annual ImagineAbility Dinner and Dance. When Clint wasn’t at work, he still typically kept busy, helping out at home in any way he could. Even when Clint was relaxing, he could be found painstakingly doing thousand-piece jigsaw puzzles and other projects, completing countless word-search books, and reading novels, a hobby he took up only recently. He also enjoyed watching hockey on TV. Clint could always count on the support, love and devotion of his parents, who took him on Florida vacations and to points across Canada, and who always made sure Clint got to his many activities, including swimming and bowling. He also liked watching Dad curl, and when golf clubs still allowed it, he was a darned fine caddy. Clint was a quiet, gentle soul, and while he is no longer with us physically, his family will carry his spirit with us forever. Clint is loved. The family would like to thank the wonderful paramedics who tried so hard to bring Clint back to us. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that interested persons instead offer support in Clint’s name to the Versatech Charitable Foundation and their work for people with intellectual disabilities.
