BASTIAANTJE PRINS

March 7, 2014

BASTIAANTJE WILHELMINA (JEAN) PRINS (nee GRISNIGT) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Prins peacefully at the Grace Hospital on Friday, March 7, 2014. Mom was 94 and lovingly called Oma by her family and friends. Left to sadly miss Oma are her two children Corrine (Bruce) and Tom (Joanne); grandchildren Bryan (Bridget) and Sarah; great-granddaughter Shannon; brother Bram (Ann); as well as numerous relatives in Holland and Sweden. She was predeceased by her husband Cornelis in 1991 and her sister Toos in 2005. Oma was born in Rotterdam, Holland and met the love of her life Cornelis while going to school in Delft. In 1954 they left war torn Europe to make a better life for their kids in Canada. Oma generously volunteered her time preparing meals-on-wheels at the Grace Hospital for many years. She managed to remain in her house until the end with the assistance of dedicated homecare staff especially Yamin and Janice. The family is very grateful to them for their care and friendship. To honour Oma’s wishes, no service will be held. Oma supported many charitable organizations especially the Grace Hospital. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. Oma was a loving, gentle soul who was cherished by her family. She will live forever in our hearts.Wojcik’s Winnipeg Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Ave., 204-897-4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com   As published in the Winnipeg Free Press on March 15, 2014
