Our heartfelt condolences to Brians family. We met Brian later in life while enjoying our winter sledding on the Lee River SnowRiders trails up at Rudy's shack. A late night ride after the Jets game and meeting the two "Brians" at Rudy's became a ritual for us. We enjoyed the food, drinks and long chats with laughs. Then the "Brians" always making sure we got home safe on our sleds. May your flag still smile and the light of your sled still shine the way home Brian. We will miss you. -- The Birdie Girls

We knew Brian as our family -(John & Audrey)- lived on Manitoba Avenue in Selkirk & our mothers were close friends. (We all had paper routes as well.) Brian leaves a great legacy-a life well lived Condolences thoughts & prayers-Linda, Lane(Taylor) & Blake Eleanor(Frank) father Ross Gordon Shauna Craig & Brian's Extended Family The Goodmans- Janie Hygaard " I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2Timothy 4: 7-8 KJV. While I hadn’t seen or talked to Brian since I left MPI 17 years ago, I did work with Brian for close to 10 years in the Communications Dept there. He always had a smile, feet on his desk, and paper everywhere! 😄😄 (but he could always find what he needed) He was always kind and patient with newbies like me and I could ask him anything anytime. He treated everyone with respect. I never saw him lose his cool even when he was under multiple deadlines and challenges, he was always just plain nice. Brian had a great sense of humour and he always had time for anyone even when he didn’t have time. When I’d bring my young son to the office, Brian always had a smile and a minute for him too. He was just one of those people who left a lasting impression on everyone he met, whether it was just once or whether one was lucky enough to become his friend. My sincere condolences to Brian’s family and friends. He was one in a million. RIP Brian and keep smiling! -30- Susan (Butson) Cable

I met Brian while working at MPI, and we quickly became good friends. Over the next 23 years, I was fortunate to work with Brian on literally thousands of road safety news releases, media events, media inquiries or safety articles. He was so good at what he did, always on point, and never shy to mix in humour and wit. Brian loved to story tell, so I’d be remiss if I didn’t share a typical work story of Brian. Brian would plan a meeting to talk about an upcoming road safety media event he was organizing, and I would call Brian at our scheduled time. Brian would answer and quickly say, “Eden, I can’t take your call right now, the (Toronto Maple) Leafs just fired their coach so I’m waiting for (Leafs GM at the time) to call and offer me the job. So I have to be off the phone. Bye.” Then in 2 minutes, Brian would be at my desk and we’d have our meeting. Truly one of a kind who will be dearly missed. From the Eden family to the Smiley family our deepest condolences. We’re thinking of you at this extremely difficult time.
