BRYON CRERAR
July 2, 2012
BRYON CRERAR It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bryon Allan William Crerar on Monday, July 2, 2012 at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 67 years. Bryon is survived by his friend Ryan Young; Ryan’s mother, Martha Bushie; Ryan’s sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews; brother, John of Winnipeg; sister, Cathy Warren of Dryden, ON; nephew, Matthew Warren of Winnipeg; as well as many cousins. Bryon will also be missed by his two dogs, Jamie and Maxwell, and his cat Kellie. He was predeceased by his father Gordon in 1984; his mother Edith in 1998; as well as his grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Bryon was born in Eagle River, ON on October 14, 1944 and moved to Dryden, ON, at the age of five. He attended Albert Street Public School and Dryden High School. Bryon’s passion was to become a member of the R.C.M.P., but found out that he was too short – a minimum height being a requirement at that time. He became a police officer in Sioux Lookout, ON and ended up moving to Alberta where he continued in this field for many years. Later, Bryon decided to pursue other employment options. He moved to Winnipeg and worked as an orderly at Tache Centre where he loved his job and was well liked. He had to quit his job in 2007 because of health issues. Once he was well, he worked with an organization called DASCH helping with disabled teenagers and adults. Bryon played many sports in his younger years including baseball, football, and curling. One of Bryon’s greatest pastimes was going to the stadium to watch the Blue Bombers practice. Bryon also enjoyed going to the cottage that he had at Sandy Bay near Gimli, MB, gardening, and going to his friends hometown of Hollow Water, MB where he’d take homemade clodhoppers for Ryan’s nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Bryon’s Life will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. We would like to thank the paramedics, the intensive care staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital, and all of the wonderful doctors and nurses who took care of Bryon in the intensive care ward of the St. Boniface Hospital. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Bryon’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
