“Peacefully. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mum Catherine Sabourin – Matlock Nov 29th 2022 with her daughter by her side. We take comfort knowing when she got to heaven she was greeted with loving arms and a shiny new pair of wings by her Granny’s and Grandpa’ Porteous and Sabourin, Mother Frances and father Paul Sabourin, brothers Roger and Paul and sister Michelle and many other amazing family members before her.

Cathie leaves behind her husband of 38 years Robert, daughter Frances (Greg) grand children Zack and Selina, son Chester, brothers Dennis (Barb), Morris, sisters Angie, Marie (lynn) and many, many nephews, nieces, and friends.

Cathie was Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba April 29th 1959 and grew up on Berry St in St. James area of Winnipeg. She attended Ecole Assiniboine for her early years education before attending Sturgeon Creek Secondary school to become a high school basketball “superstar” during her years of study. She graduated in 1977. She found employment at The Hudson’s Bay Downtown, Unicity, and Regina locations as a loss prevention officer she eventually left her job in loss prevention to start her own decorating and gift designing business Cathie’s Magical Balloons, first from her own home for 10 years and opened up a physical shop in Westwood for 2 years before officially retiring.

Cathie valued family and saving stray cats when ever she could. She adored her grand kids and loved her husband every day of her marriage.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the Home Care workers who visited her home every single day to care for Cathie and to all the visitors and facebook friends who visited or messaged her daily. You all made the last years of her life just a little bit brighter.

A heart felt hug and thank you is being extended to all the family and friends who video called and visited her in her final hours.

Cremation has taken place. A come and go service will be held on Sept 10th 2023 in the backyard of 30 Cullen Dr, Winnipeg, MB. 1-6 pm. Please email or message Cathie’s Daughter Frances if you wish to attend or tune in to the live Youtube feed the day of.
