Charles Fredrick (Fred) LeCaine October 13, 1942 – November 16, 2024 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Charles Fredrick LeCaine at his home on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the age of 82.
Fred is survived by his daughter Vanessa and her husband Powell, daughter Jodie and her husband Chris, grandsons Zander and Hyden, his sister Thelma, his nephew Jamie, nieces Laura and Donna and their families.
Fred was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force after high school. He had many achievements throughout his military career until his retirement as a Master Warrant Officer in 1994. The highlight being meeting the love of his life, Janie and building a wonderful life with her for 44 years until her passing in 2009. As a testament to his exceptional military service he became a Member of the Order of Military Merit awarded to him by the Governor General of Canada. After his retirement from the Air Force, he spent time continuing to serve others as a drug and alcohol counsellor.
Upon the arrival of his grandsons, Fred was proud to embrace the role of Gramps. He dedicated countless hours supporting Zander and Hyden at all their events and was a regular fixture in the hockey rink. He took immense joy and pride in watching them grow and achieve new skills.
After the loss of his wife, he dedicated time volunteering at the Grace Hospital. It was also at this point that his love of pool was ignited. Fred became a regular fixture at many of the pool halls in Winnipeg and began traveling across Canada for tournaments. To his pool community, we deeply thank you for the joy and friendships you brought to his life. Play a few games in his honour.
He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a friend to everyone he met. He was kind and dedicated his life to serving others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
There will be a private family celebration of Fred’s life.
