Dear Rob, Rose Mary, Susan, Tom...and ALL family of Charles... Please accept my most heartfelt condolence on the loss of your Dad. I will miss Charles and our occasional lunches, dinners, concerts and of course e-mails. They were always filled with great conversation of family, travel, art, books, poetry, his years of teaching and of course fine food and spirits! I especially loved how much family meant to him and his zest and positivity for life in general never ceased to amaze me. His poetry, some of which he shared with me many years into our friendship...completely took me aback. I somehow didn't expect the depth of tenderness and vulnerability from him. I'm so happy that he did finally share some of it with me. I'm also glad I got to meet all you children and your kids at Charles' 90th birthday get-together. Wherever he is now...I have no doubt that he's enjoying a fine glass of wine and starting a poetry club! May your sorrow soon be replaced by beautiful memories and tender moments of reflection. Sincerely, Mary Ann

Dear Rose Mary, Susan, Rob, Tom & family. I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your dear father. My sympathy to you, including David, Marlon, Tammy and grandchildren. I have many fond memories of your dear parents dating back to your mother, memories dating back to the day when your mother lived in the country. We had many happy and fun times visiting the Antons in their quaint house in Matlock, Manitoba -- many water fights and strong coffee, we couldn't sleep at night! My husband Joe and I always enjoyed get-togethers with Chuck and EllaJean. I'm sure their friendly, kind, and caring nature has been passed on to their fine children whom they raised. Do take care of yourselves, love to all. Phyllis Doran & family

We both have many fond memories of Chuck and Ella-Jean and the family. We are sorry to hear of his passing. Chuck and I spent many years teaching together on the English Team at Fort Richmond Collegiate. They were exciting times and we taught and laughed our way through them together. Everyone who knew Chuck appreciated his devotion to his family as well. Rose Mary and our eldest daughter grew up together and have remained friends through all the intervening years. She has been a good mentor to our granddaughter and is much loved by the family. Our only regret is that following the death of Ella-Jean we didn't work harder at keeping in touch with the family. Our sympathy goes out to Rose, Rob, Suzy and Tom. The Helgason family
