CHARLES WILFRED MITTERNDORFER Suddenly on Monday, August 5, 2013, Charles passed away in Winnipeg at the age of 52 years. Charles is lovingly remembered by his sister Cindy (Chantal); aunts: Yvonne Hughesman (Doug), Bernice Smith (Cliff), Shirley Lalchun (Bill), Jackie Meikle (George), Uncle Eric Mitterndorfer (Audrey); and cousins Curtis, Donna, Sandy, Leslie, Gary, Clifford, Ken, Craig, Carmen, Dana, Crissie, and Glen. He will also be missed by extended family; friends; former colleagues; and students. He was predeceased by his parents, Norma and Wilfred Mitterndorfer. On October 29, 1960, Charles was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba. He graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate in 1978 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba in 1982. After graduation, he taught for 20 years within the St. James School Division, starting at Lincoln Middle School and teaching for the majority of his career at Ness Middle School. Charles predominantly taught band and consistently conducted his bands to multiple medals both provincially and nationally. Charles loved volleyball, playing in a senior men’s league and coaching at Ness Middle School. One of his greatest passions was fishing and the number of Master Angler awards he acquired were a testament to his skill and love of the sport. On Monday, August 26, 2013, Charles’ Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. in Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive. A private family Interment will be held in Brookside Cemetery. Life in recent years had become increasingly difficult for Charles, as he navigated his way through the many challenges he faced. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to all those who provided such heart felt and ongoing support for Charles. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Charles Mitterndorfer to Klinic, 870 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0P1. Donations will be directed towards mental health support services.
