Christopher O'Grady

September 19, 1939 - June 15, 2017

CHRISTOPHER SHAUGHNESSY O’GRADY September 19, 1939 –  June 15, 2017
On Thursday, June 15, 2017, Christopher passed away at Deer Lodge Centre, at the age of 77 years.   Remaining to cherish Chris’ memory is his beloved wife Louise; brothers Brian and Dale and sisters, Alice (Glowatski), Elsie (McCabe) and Gail (Dowbush). He was predeceased by his brothers Ken, Jim and Bruce and sisters Betty (Boyce) and Kathy (Ritchie).   Chris was born in Shoal Lake, Manitoba, the seventh child of William and Mary O’Grady. After graduating from Shoal Lake Collegiate, Chris graduated from the Manitoba Teachers College in 1958. He began his teaching career in the St. Charles School District at St. Charles School. After five years teaching, he became vice-principal at St. Charles and Buchanan Schools. He then joined the Assiniboine North School Division which amalgamated with the St. James School Division. His next assignments included principalships at Buchanan and Voyageur Schools, Deputy Assistant Superintendent of the St. James School Division and principal at Hedges, St. James Collegiate and John Taylor Collegiate Schools. After 36 enjoyable years, Chris retired from the teaching profession in June 1994. His first years teaching at St. Charles School and the years he spent at Voyageur School, working with such professional and dedicated staff, brought him immense enjoyment. Chris was also delighted with all his other schools. He was very much a people person and enjoyed his associations with all the staff and colleagues he came into contact with over the years.     After retiring from teaching, Chris and Louise spent many wonderful years in Mesa at Trail Riders Holiday Park – their home away from home. Chris has often said he was fortunate to have such a loving, supportive family and so many friends that have spanned a lifetime of such a wonderful life filled with great memories.    In compliance with Chris’ wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held.    Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
