Claire Sarna

August 8, 1941 - July 30, 2017

CLAIRE EMILY JEANNETTE SARNA
(nee JOYAL)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Claire on Sunday, July 30, 2017.    Claire has gone to be reunited with her son Timothy (predeceased in 1981). She leaves behind her husband Albert (Al); daughter Michele; sons Jeffrey (Jennifer) and Jason, and grandchildren Alexandra and Cameron. Claire would have been 76 years old on August 8th.     She was born in Winnipeg, the youngest of six children of J. Antonio “Tony” and Emilienne Joyal. She will be greatly missed by her surviving siblings Therese, Louise, Lucien and Edward, numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, friends, in-laws, and extended family. She was predeceased by her brother Dennis and his wife, Joan.     Claire lived in Winnipeg her entire life except for one year in San Diego with her family at the age of 15. The week she returned to Winnipeg, she met the love of her life, Al, on the steps of Holy Ghost Church, where they fell in love, dated for five years, and have been married for 55 years. Claire was a person of great faith, courage and dedication to the Lord, which brought her through all the years of pain with two heart surgeries, cancer, and other illnesses. Claire has been described many times as a remarkable woman whose strength was an inspiration to many people. She was beautiful inside and out. She was extremely generous with her time and talents throughout her life and gave of herself to many local organizations.     Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Avenue, Winnipeg, with Rev. Fr. Dominic Yuen, presiding. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to Mass. Interment will be announced at a later date.     Our gratitude to the numerous health care professionals who went out of their way to help Claire through these many difficult years of illness.    Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 1020 Main Street, 204.586.8668 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
