Cody transitioned into my grade 1 classroom at Buchanan. I also got to teach him in grade 2. Cody had a smile that could lite up a room. He loved his Thomas the Train. Cody taught me so much about what was truly important in life. I learned a lot about Autism through Cody and his family, which is now helping years later with my best friends little guy. Bailey was such an amazing big brother and Marie was always there. My thought and prayers have been with Bailey, Marie, and Pat since I found out the news on Tuesday. Nicole Cory (former teacher)

Dear Pat, Marie and Bailey, my heart goes out to each one of you; a father and a mother who has lost their son and a brother who has lost his brother. This is a very difficult time for all of you and each of you will go though the emotions of grief in different ways and times. Now is the time that you will need each other the most. I cannot imagine the pain that each of you are going though right now. Please remember you are still a family that really needs each other, now more than ever. During your times of sorrow, remember to talk about Cody, all the good times and the bad. Even though Cody is no longer with you in body he will always be with you in your hearts and memories. Remember Cody with a smile and tell his stories to who ever will listen, I will listen any time, any where. Marie, Pat and Bailey, I am just a phone call away should you every feel the need to talk. May God grant you all the strength and courage to continue on with this new direction of life that has come your way. And remember, Cody will always be with you in your hearts and your memories as you continue on with your lives.I hold special memories of Cody from the Childrens Xmas parties put on by Beaver Truck Centre and the request of, if possible, that he receive something about Thomas the Train. He truly did love Thomas, he had a real connection with all his Thomas toys. I believe that where Cody is now, he is happily playing with all the Tomas toys that where ever made. I believe that he is looking down apon you all, right now with that special Cody smile of his and he is saying; it's ok Mama, Papa and Bailey, I am in a safe and happy place and one day we will all be together again. Your friend and co worker, Mary Ann Loeppky of Beaver Truck Centre / Oak Point Oil.

Cody was a wonderful little boy that I enjoyed getting to know the last 2 years at Buchanan. From holding hands and swaying to O Canada, to playing a fun game of chase at recess. He will always be remembered. My thoughts go out to you Marie and family. Xx

My deepest condolences To Marie, Pat & Bailey. My words cannot express how I feel for you at this time of your loss of Dear Cody. He was a special little guy with a beautiful little smile. I remember the days when we took the yearly trip down to Thief River Falls, MN and Cody would be humming in the pool having a great time. He was so special and will be missed dearly by a lot of people who had great pleasure in getting to know this cute little Thomas fan. RIP DEAR CODY. ((HUGS)) To the Southall family

Oh, little boy that changed my life. I walked into your home, having no idea what I should do with my future, or what the next 16 months with you would teach me. I was blessed to be your ABA tutor, to learn through you how to apply Psychology (even before I really knew what Psychology was). I marvelled at you: how hard one little boy could work to overcome all that he was up against! We sat at that table for hours, and you amazed me: cutting even the really difficult shapes with your scissors, learning to print, zipping up your own coat and getting on your shoes, brushing your teeth. You gave me joy with each inch of progress. These years later, I still hold special moments close. I think of your mommy singing, “You’ve got a friend in me” with such love and gentleness in her eyes. And you knew exactly what she was saying to you, and how true it was. I think of you whenever I eat ketchup chips, or when I jump on a trampoline, or see Thomas the train engine or Monsters Inc. And whenever I see kids with those tan train tracks, I remember how I once underestimated you. How Marcie said you could learn how to put the tracks together, and I thought, “Uhhhh, I don’t think so…” Of course – I was wrong. In no time you were building the tracks to run your trains over.Your giggle was priceless – 100% contagious. Those dark brown eyes could melt the most impatient person. Your big brother was SUCH an awesome big brother to you. Your family treasured you.Why haven’t I visited you in so, so long? Just last Saturday, I was getting my hair cut in St. James and thought, “Man, I should’ve called Marie and asked if I could stop in and see how much Cody has grown.” Look what a gorgeous young man you were growing into.Honestly: it was working with you, Cody, that made me realize how much I loved being part of kid’s lives who needed extra help to reach all of their amazing potential. And I went from you, back to university to get my honours degree in Psychology, and am now getting my M.A. to become a School Psychologist. You impacted me, little boy. And I thank God, so very, very much, that He let me be a part of your special life for the time I was in it.My heart breaks for you, Pat, Marie, and Bailey. I am praying for you in your grief, to lean on the One who has that boy safe in His loving arms. Thank you for opening your home to me, Southalls, and letting me love Cody, too.“You've got a friend in meYou've got a friend in meWhen the road looks rough aheadAnd you're miles and milesFrom your nice warm bedJust remember what your old pal saidBoy, you've got a friend in meYou've got a friend in me You've got troubles, well I've got 'em tooThere isn't anything I wouldn't do for youWe stick together and we see it throughYou've got a friend in meYou've got a friend in me Some other folks might beA little bit smarter than I amBigger and stronger tooMaybeBut none of them will ever love you the way I do It's me and you, boyAnd as the years go byOur friendship will never dieYou're gonna seeIt's our destinyYou've got a friend in meYou've got a friend in meYou've got a friend in me”

I am sorry sorry for your loss. I just heard and feel so sad for you. Marie, if there is anything I can do contact me, IMMEDIATELY. Such a devastating loss to you, I know. You are in my thoughts and prayers. So is Cody. I fondly remember playing 'airplane' and making the airplane sound, and pushing him on the swing at school and then just before I pushed him, he would look up and laugh as I turned around with hands out, like an 'airplane' . He would laugh and I 'got his eyes' and he would said, 'auggh gan' again, and I would do it again. He was a remarkable boy with a special light in his eyes. I remember the xmas concert at school when I was there, the sucker in his mouth, watching everyone, so excited to be included. I remember amazing parents at the CSC meetings and sharing of your life, at Mase, and ASM, You were amazing parents and I know he is looking down at you telling you how grateful he was to having such dedicated parents. I am sure he is talking up a storm right now. HUGS and call me, Hugs, hugs hugs
