Cynthia Mary Bellingham McGregor (nee Bellingham)

October 16, 1975 - April 23, 2018

Cynthia McGregor (nee Bellingham), aged 42, died early in the morning on April 23, 2018, at her new home in West St. Paul. She was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in May 2017. From her birth in Winnipeg, on October 16, 1975, to her death on Monday she exuded love, strength, and determination; she was our Warrior Princess!

Although she was born in Winnipeg to Wayne Bellingham and Colleen Poneira (Ramsey), her heart and spirit always lay outside of the city. She met her love, Kevin James McGregor, when she was a teenager and moved to Onanole, Manitoba; on July 15, 2000 they were married at the Wishing Well in Riding Mountain National Park. After 13 years in Onanole, they moved to Thompson, Manitoba. Together they built a life that centered on an appreciation of nature and the North; including a cabin, which they built themselves, at Wekusko Lake. Cynthia began working as an Educational Assistant in Thompson schools 10 years ago. The majority of this career was at Riverside School, where she established incredible relationships with her colleagues and, most importantly, the students with which she worked. She loved her job because of the people she worked with and she missed it terribly over this last year. Cynthia and Kevin decided to relocate to the Winnipeg area in December 2017, to be closer to family. They found a home in West St. Paul that Cynthia referred to as her “dream home”.

She is survived by the love of her life and beloved husband of 17 years, Kev; dog, Browning; mom, Colleen (Rick); two sisters, Jennifer (Damon) and Samantha (Cory); cousin, Kimmy; stepbrother, Wes; father-in-law, Marvyn; brothers-in-law, half-sister, and many aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

As her family, we would like to extend our gratitude for the generosity that made it possible for Cynthia and Kevin to relocate; to the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, in particular to Dr. Fatoye as he made it possible for her to have one more swim; Dr. Andrew Cooke, as well as Jennifer Dalke – her kick ass “Lymph Lady”.

She has been cremated; there will be a private ceremony at Wekusko Lake. To honour and remember Cynthia, we are planning a Celebration of Life (PARTY) that she would have loved on May 12, 2018 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Please contact a family member or close friend for further details.

In lieu of flowers and/or donations to CancerCare Manitoba, Cynthia would like to encourage everyone to take that money and go make a memory with someone you love – she would suggest an ice cream lunch!
