DAVID GUY SMETHURST

     It is with deep sadness that I share the sudden passing of my much-loved brother David. David leaves behind our father, Robert Guy and his wife, of Cobble Hill, BC, myself Linda Anne Cottrell, and nephews Adam Guy and Cameron Allan, of North Vancouver, BC.  He is also survived by many special cousins and dear friends.

David’s career as a Flight Service Specialist, with Transport Canada and NAV Canada brought together many of his favorite things: aviation, travel and friendships.  He retired from NAV Canada in January 2018 after 30 years of loyal service. In recent years, David enjoyed a few of his much-anticipated trips.  He took up gardening and spent an incredible amount of time documenting our family history. A proud Winnipegger, David was a patron of the city’s Arts and Sports.

He will forever be remembered for his great love of family, friends, all things aviation and a world he loved to explore.

A celebration of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Wojcik’s Chapel of Memories at 1020 Main Steet, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
