He is survived by his sister and many friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his father Bert Comrie (2007) and his mother Irene Comrie (2017).
His burial, along with a short celebration of life will occur in May/June time frame at Lilyfield Cementary. It will be announced in the Free Press.
As a young boy David was enthused with mechanics and usually got a set of Mechano each Christmas until he had all 10 sets. When he left school he worked as a security guard. And later he had an RCA Dealership. He also repaired vehicles from a shop on the farm. He was a genius when it came to fixing electronics and vehicles. (all self taught)
He got a lucky break in 1999 when the government were training additional electricians in anticipation of Y2K. David was accepted into the program and he never missed 1 day. Upon graduation he had the highest level an electrician can get, including the ability to run a power plant.
As an electrician he worked mostly for 1 man who owned a number of hotels and motels in Winnipeg.
He also worked for Adesa Public Auction of all kinds of vehicles. He worked there for 17 years and because of his perfect driving record got to deliver vehicles, including a DeLorean across Canada and the USA.
David loved animals too. He had a dog on the farm and a cat later when he lived in the city.
He loved his horror movies, Sargent Sundays ice cream, and A&W burgers. He was a big movie collector with over 1000 movies when he died.
David was a kind, thoughtful, and considerant person. He is really missed.
Thanks to all his many doctors who helped extend his life. A big thanks to his friends at 170 Hendon for your companionship and help in his final days. A special thank you to Ron and Carol Lovequist (our mothers nephew and wife) for all the work you did on the farm with our Dad and all the assistance and companionship with David. It really meant a lot to him.
Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always here. Still loved, still missed and forever near.
