DENNIS FRASER
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dennis Fraser on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the age of 84 years.    Left to mourn Dennis’ passing are his wife of 63 years, Jessie; his granddaughters Paula (Nelson), Amanda and Melanie and great-grandchildren Adriana, Alicia and Lucas. Also left to mourn are his three sisters Betty, Joyce and Patty; brother Alan (Villa) as well as nieces, nephews and extended family here, in the U.S. and in Scotland. He was predeceased by his daughter Nancy and son Stewart.      Dennis was born in Aberdeen, Scotland into a large blended family of 13 children and that instilled a joy and devotion to spending time with loved ones. After moving to Canada in 1969, Dennis particularly enjoyed when family from the old country came to visit and hosting Christmas Eve in his home for many years. He worked for the City of Winnipeg Parks and Recreation Department for 24 years and that love of the outdoors followed him home, even after retirement, where he spent many an hour tending to his lawn and garden.       Dennis loved music and could often be caught singing a tune; even towards the end of his life, he entertained his care staff with many an old standard. He also played bag pipes for the Shrine Pipe Band for many years.       A celebration of Dennis’ life will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4, 1755 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.    The family extends a special thank you to the doctors and staff of both 5 North at the Grace Hospital and 1B at Riverview Health Centre.     In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.     Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
