DONALD ROBERT LAWRENCE

Don passed away on September 25, 2022 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 88.

He was born and raised at Dinsmore, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan and St. Andrews Theological College in Saskatchewan.

Don was ordained by the United Church of Canada in 1959. He served churches at Leader and Shaunavon in Southeastern Saskatchewan; Carmichael and Broadway congregations in Regina and Windsor Park United Church in Winnipeg. He also spent a one year work exchange with St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Auckland, New Zealand.

A wide range of personal interests included, history, English literature, sports, current events, theatre, reading, classical music, walking and travelling. Don was a strong supporter of environmental and social justice issues.

Don was predeceased by two of his children and a brother. He is survived by a daughter, a son, three grandchildren, a brother and sister. As well as a number of brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends John Ostlund and his adorable Maltese puppy dog Benzy, who have been a loving second family for many years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022.

Memorial gifts will be appreciated at Windsor Park Church or a charity of your choice.
