DONNA ALEXANDRA (SANDRA) OTTO
(nee KANGAS)
February 22, 1941 – July 12, 2015

It is with the sadness of hearts our family announces the passing of an amazing wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 74 years.
Left to mourn Donna are her husband of 56 years, Melvin; children, Debra (Dave), Keith (Karen), Jo-Anne (Raymond), Robert (Carol), Brenda (Richard), Heather (Jim) and Colleen (Gerald); 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Fay; one brother, Stewart; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Shane in 2011.
Donna was born in Port Arthur, Ontario and at a young age her family settled in Beausejour, Manitoba. She was the third oldest of seven children. Her first job was a switchboard operator with Manitoba Telephone Systems in Beausejour.
In 1954 Donna met the love of her life, Melvin. Soon after high school they married, settled down and started raising their family of seven children. They resided in Beausejour for a number of years, before moving to the family farm in Glenmoor, Manitoba. After raising her children, Donna decided to pursue a career in home care. She graduated from Red River Community College with a Certificate as a Home Care Attendant and obtained employment with the Interlake Regional Health Authority. She valued this job very much and made many lasting friendships. After retiring Donna enjoyed her hobbies which included darts, cribbage and her outings with the ladies of the Red Hat Society. Of all the blessings in life, Donna cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren most.
