DONNA MARIE PARRY(nee HARVEY)May 13, 1945 – May 14, 2016
It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear Mom my friend Donna Marie Parry. After a brief, but brave battle with Cancer Mom passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre with her daughter and son in-law by her side. Mom will be sadly missed by her daughter Lisa and husband Brad; sister Norma and husband George; niece Erica and husband Damien; their children, Niobe, Jet and Bjorn; nephew Stefan as well as numerous close friends; neighbors and relatives. Mom was born in Neepawa and lived there until the age of 16. She then moved to Winnipeg with her Mom to reside and attend Success Business College. Mom’s career was in the secretarial profession for over 30 years. One of Mom’s many interests was travel, her dream destination was Hawaii. After reading about it in the Readers Digest at the age of 14, she knew this was a place she had to see. She was able to fulfill her dream three times, as well as visits to Portugal, Mexico, Cuba and numerous road trips. Other interests include her love of music and reading with extensive collections of both. Mom loved gardening. Her condo balconies were always full of beautiful flowers in the summertime. She also treasured our mother daughter time together, especially our many spa days we shared. Not all of us are given the opportunity to celebrate our lives and say goodbye to those we love and cherish the most. Mom was able to do that and for that I will be forever grateful. As per Mom’s wishes no formal funeral service will be held. Thank you to Mom’s family physician Dr. Swain for being so caring and compassionate. A special thank you to the home palliative team, especially nurse Ann for making Mom’s time at home as comfortable as possible. A very special thank you to Mom’s caregiver Angela who gave her support and dignity. Lastly to the staff at Riverview, I thank you for the special care you provided for my Mom in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom’s name to the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Although You Are Gone
Although you are gone, I am not alone, and never shall I be.
For the precious memory is of the bond we shared, will never part from me.
Our love surpassed the ups and downs, and helped us along the way,
and that same love will give me strength to manage this loss each day.
On my mind and in my heart Mom, you shall forever be,
for just as I am a part of you, you are a part of me.
Love you muchly my beautiful mother, may you find peace in heaven.
