DONNA LOUISE ROBBINS(nee DAMAN)

Donna passed away peacefully with family by her side at Health Sciences Centre on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the age of 72. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer on December 19th which she faced with tremendous grace and dignity and her family was very thankful that she did not suffer.   Donna will be dearly missed by her daughter Victoria (Marcelin); her grandson Justin; her sisters and brothers, Allan (Karen), Barrie (Cathy), Gayle (Warren), Laurel (Ian), Lana (Lawrie) and Trevor; many nieces; nephews and very close friends, Jana and Lawrence (Mojo). She was predeceased by her parents John, Dora and Tunnie and sister-in-law Joni.   On March 8, 1944, Donna was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up on Lot 161 St. Mary’s Road. She enjoyed many happy years with her siblings and cousins that lived on Daman Farm Road and the many Daman, Anderson and Quesnel family members that often came to visit.   Donna spent most of her life battling mental illness which she did with a strength of character that was unparalleled. Despite the challenges that Donna faced, she was able to enjoy many good times with her family and friends.
When I’m Gone

When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken;
Remember some good I have done,
Forget that I ever had a heartache
And remember I’ve had lots of fun.
Forget that I have stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way,
Remember I have fought
Some hard battles and won,
Ere the close of the day,
Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not have you sad for a day,
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay
And come in the evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west,
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best.
The family would like to thank Donna’s mental health worker Kevin and the staff at Health Sciences Centre, with special thanks to Dr. Sharma, for their kindness, care and support. It made things so much easier for Donna and for all of us.   In accordance with Donna’s wishes the family will be having a private celebration of life.   Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
