DORIS GERTRUDE HUMENUIK(nee TAYLOR)
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Doris Gertrude Humenuik (nee Taylor) on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the age of 90 years. Remaining to cherish Doris’ memory are her daughters, Linda (Ron) Kenyon, Dianne McShane (Lindolfo Medeiros) and Nancy; grandchildren, Bryan (Carolyn) Kenyon, Krista (Andy) Mizerak, Lindsay and Stacy (Lynden) Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Ethan and London Kenyon, Aubrey, Laurel and Gretchen Mizerak, Kyla and Riley Maxwell; as well as many nieces; nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Jim (Maxim); her father George Taylor; mother Margaret (Malcolm) (Taylor) Heselwood and nine siblings. Doris was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mom loved spending her time volunteering at Misericordia Hospital and then was the first volunteer at the new Victoria Hospital from February 1, 1971 to July 16, 2012. She was a great hostess of many parties held at home for family and friends and would really dance up a storm. Mom enjoyed working on all her different craft projects from knitting, floral arranging to her plastic embroidering. The monthly Rummoli game with the neighbour ladies was a fun time had by all, especially when all the winnings went for a nice dinner out on the town, once a year. Of course, Mom’s love for gardening was the best, especially the planting of peas, so we could all sample them fresh from the vine, as none ever made it to a pot. Although most of the great-grandchildren live in the United States, on their visits to Winnipeg, Mom always found time, day or night to play games. She would surprise them all with her knowledge and wit. Grandma’s specialty was sending cards and letters to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a perfectly “foiled” gift inside each one. No formal funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial donations may be made in Doris’ memory to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 2E8 or to a charity of one’s choice. Remembered Joy
Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free
I follow the plan, God laid for me
I saw his face, I heard his call
I took his hand and left it all
I could not stay another day
To love, to laugh, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
And if my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things, I too shall miss
My life’s been full, I’ve savoured much
Good times, good friends, a loved one’s touch
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don’t shorten yours with undue grief
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow
“We miss you already Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma”.
