DOROTHY LAVONNE (BONNIE) WHEATON

Dorothy Lavonne (Bonnie) Wheaton was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on September 18, 1948. She was the daughter of George Edward Wheaton and Vivian Doreen Wheaton. Bonnie was one of five girls and two boys. A half-sister Doris, Robert (died at the age of 4 months) Ginny, Brenda, Larry and Karen. Bonnie spent her younger years in Oxford, N.S. before moving to Amherst N.S. After marrying Harold Roebuck (predeceased) she moved to Ontario and later to Manitoba.

She was the proud mother of three children, Carla (Chris), Jess, and Darlene (Roger), 5 grandchildren, Brenna (Julien), Kerra (Alex), Kianna, Justina, and Justin (Karisma) and 4 greatgrandchildren, Colton, Grayson, Grace and Jayvian.

Bonnie loved her family, her sisters and brother, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at her home in Matlock. The surroundings reminded her of her home in Nova Scotia. She loved to shop and often spoke of going out to lunch or the mall with her best friend Ferne. Most of her career with the Manitoba Government was spent working with Childrens Family Services. She was also very active on the board of Siloam Mission and called many of the clients there her friend. Bonnie was active in her local church. She loved to engage with people and had a knack for making them feel they could confide in her. We used to tease her about how long she’d take if we were out shopping with her because of this. The last several years of her life she suffered a great deal from poor health. She always fought back from every situation she found herself in with an amazing and stoic attitude. After fighting one last battle for several weeks, she went to be with Jesus, the One in whom she trusted above all others, early April 7, 2024. One of her dreams the last few years was to go home (Nova Scotia) one more time. She will be buried in a graveside in Oxford, Nova Scotia between her mom and dad. Finally home, fully loved and completely healed.
