Dear Dorothy, Tanis & Shawna, I was so shocked and sorry to see Doug's brief obituary in the Free Press. I had been away, and the only reason I know is because I get The Free Press to send me their obituary notices in case there are some distant relatives who may have passed on. I left a message for Dallas & my brother Clayton. I called Marilyn and let her know. I always liked Doug, he was such a good natured, happy person. Doug and his whole family were all good to me. I am so sorry, Marilyn sends her condolences, as well. Take care. Sincerely & with Love Lila

I am deeply saddened by the sudden death of Doug. I first met him in 1979 while he was President of the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange. I came to know him much better over the past fifteen years. I would often consult with him and draw on his vast experience in our business, usually in relatively stressful circumstances. He was always a calming influence and a principled intelligent man. I was proud to call him a friend. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Doug's contributions to the art and science of commodity trading were considerable. A steady friend will be much missed, including at the Mouse Trap Club
