Elisabeth Clarke

December 2, 1929 - May 13, 2017

ELISABETH “BETTY” MARGARETE CLARKE

Betty Clarke, nee Neumann, was born December 26,1929 at Rosenfeld, Manitoba. One of 14 children born to Eva and Paul Neumann, she grew up in Rosenfeld and Roseisle and attended Roseisle School.   In 1948 Betty married Albert “Ab” Clarke. Ab and Betty farmed at Roseisle until 1958 when the family moved to Winnipeg. They raised four daughters, and enjoyed an active social life with family, neighbours, and their “gang”. In 1994, Ab and Betty retired and moved back to Carman. They enjoyed many happy years reunited with friends and family from the Carman area.    Betty was a working mom, and was very proud of the 40 years she spent waitressing in Winnipeg. Mom spoke fondly of trips taken to Mesa, Arizona, Hawaii and Washington, DC. She volunteered a lot of her time to many causes over her lifetime. Betty loved playing piano and accordion, and played music by ear. Her favorite sports activities were golf and bowling, and she was quite accomplished at both.    In November 2016, Betty moved from Carman to Lindenwoods Manor in Winnipeg.   We are thankful that we were able to spend more time with her.   She was predeceased by husband Ab, and they are together again. Betty was the last surviving child of Paul and Eva Neumann.  Our Mom and Nanny is survived and deeply missed by her daughters Gwen, Linda, Frances and Evelyn, grandchildren Miles (Lauren), Haley (Josh) and Connor and great grandchildren Emmett and Evah.    Celebration of life will take place at Carman United Church, 134 1st St., Carman, MB on Saturday June 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Please join us in wearing a little purple, Betty’s favorite colour. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.    Special thanks to Lindenwoods Manor and ER staff at Victoria Hospital. Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
