Evelyn welcomed me in her family and became part of my life here at Winnipeg, we shared beautiful times during the summer and cold winter too. We bonded through travels, car rides and dining table, where sharing desserts was the the ultimate goal of the day. Her warm smile was the one you cannot deny anything. She was a great Mom whose thoughts of her 'children' were on the day to day talks and she was family devoted. During the last years her health issues got me closer to her. She found a great time in her new accommodation at Residence Despins Supportive Housing, where all of us we become part of an enlarged family, thanks to their care we were able to allow her better quality of life and become even closer to Evelyn. Knowing that she left us was really sad, and I want to extend my condolence to all the Smith Family. I believe now she looks at us and guides us through life with her charming smile.

My deepest sympathies to our long time time neighbours and friends, George, Cathy, Bobby and Gail. Your mom was an amazing person. Friendly, caring, funny and dedicated to her family. She spent many times sharing a coffee and a gab session with my mom either at our house or hers or at bingo. I will always remember her as our red headed firecracker neighbour who was fierce in her convictions despite being diminutive in size. She will be missed.

I was saddened to hear of Evelyn's passing. Evelyn and my mother (Dorothy) were good friends and neighbours to each other. Many afternoons Evelyn was over for coffee and a chat. They both looked forward to that, (it was their coffee break from household duties). I also remember they often went over to Orioles to play bingo. Evelyn was always there for us in a pinch. If none of us kids could get a hold of our mom or dad by phone (if the line was always busy), we would call Evelyn up and she would walk over and knock on the door to see if they were ok OR if the phone was off the hook (which usually was the case). Evelyn would always help out, no questions asked. Even when Evelyn moved away my mom always found the time to visit her. Evelyn was a kind hearted friend, neighbour whose laughter would bring a smile to your face. I know somewhere Evelyn and my mom are once again enjoying a good cup of coffee and long chat. Evelyn will be sadly missed. With many fond memories you have my deepest sympathy and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My mother devoted her life to her children. The last few years of her life she was challenged with her health, I am grateful for the the loving care she received at Residence Despins Supportive Housing. This care allowed me to be the daughter Mom needed. Mom's smile warmed many hearts, it is what I will remember the most.
