EWALD WEGER

May 28, 1927 - December 10, 2014

EWALD WEGER May 1927 – December 2014   Peacefully, after a brief battle with lung cancer, it is with deep sadness we announce the death of Ewald Weger on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at East-Gate Lodge. He passed into a better place with his family by his side, at the age of 87 years. Left to mourn Ed’s memory are his wife of 63 years, Vivian; sons Richard, Edward, and Jim; daughters Debbie (Bennie), Patricia (Clint), and Rosemarie (Alan); as well as numerous grand and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son Robert; brothers Lenard and Henry, and parents Hulda and Ed. Ewald was born in Poland and came to Canada when he was five. Raised in Riverhills, he left for Ontario as a young man to work, where Ed met his wife and later moved to Manitoba. He lived in Tyndall, Manitoba until two and a half years ago, when he was placed in East-Gate Lodge. Ed worked in a steel plant in Sault Ste Marie, as well as a forklift operator in a lumber yard in Winnipeg until he retired. The outdoors, camping, bon fires, and traveling around Canada is what Ed enjoyed the most with Cassie and Mitzie by his feet, and of course family gatherings were special to him. In compliance with Ed’s wishes, a private family gathering will take place at a later date. We would like to thank Lois, Robyn, Lilly, Helen, and Edith for their wonderful care while staying at EGL. Also a special thanks to Ross, his new friend, who came to visit so many times. Ed sure enjoyed those times. Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel & Crematorium (Serving Beausejour) 204.268.2263, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com.
