Floyd Nowatzki

May 25, 1948 - January 22, 2018

FLOYD A. NOWATZKI
May 1948 – January 2018

Floyd Nowatzki passed away peacefully at Poseidon Care Centre on Monday, January 22, 2018. His spirit will join that of his daughter, Nadine, who passed away in October 2015.   He is survived by his wife Royce, daughter Janet (Fadi Ennab), granddaughter Yafa Ennabzki, son-in-law Brian Theriault, siblings: Cheryl (Bert), Jeff (Pat), Lynn, and Jay (Jocelyn), brother-in-law Brian (Laurel) McFarlane, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents Lorna and Harold Nowatzki, parents-in-law Florence and Stuart McFarlane, and sister-in-law Margaret Anne Nowatzki.   Floyd was born in Grafton, N. D. He and his family moved to Winnipeg in 1955. He attended a variety of schools in Fort Garry, worked briefly with M.T.S. and then went to U. of M. where he completed a B.Sc. in Pharmacy in 1973.   He was pleased to be hired at K Mart Pharmacy in Brandon after graduation. He always enjoyed the slower pace of life in Brandon, including the time for hobbies that it allowed. Upon moving to Brandon, he lost no time in signing up for flying lessons at the Brandon Airport. The love of flying stayed with him right up to 2001. Floyd also had a lifelong interest in motorcycles, and he and Royce travelled by motorcycle to many destinations throughout the years.   Life as a husband (married in 1971) and father of two wonderful daughters (born 1973 and 1975) were very important to Floyd.  Work and family kept his life busy and rewarding.   Floyd chose to work part-time in late 1997, and he enjoyed the opportunity to pursue interests outside of work. He and Royce retired fully from pharmacy in 2002 and took many opportunities to travel and spend time with loved ones.   Floyd was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in late 2009. Life changed considerably over the ensuing years, and we are all so proud of how Floyd dealt with this challenging disease.   Floyd will be cremated and there will be no funeral service.   For those who choose to remember Floyd in a special way, please consider a donation to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2 or Brandon Area Community Foundation: The Nowatzki Family Fund, DPO Box 22096, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 1K2.   Condolences may be sent to Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
