FRANCESCO PIANTADOSI

1944 – 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Francesco (Frank) Piantadosi on March 23, 2023, at the age of 78. He resided in Winnipeg Manitoba. He is remembered by the mother of his children Tuovi, three children, Anna (Sabino), Sarah and Christina, brothers and sisters Rita, Pino (Michaela), Diana (Leonardo), Sylvio (Raffa) and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He is predeceased by his brothers Primo (Maurizia) and Bruno (Maria), brother-in-law Titziano and his parents Anna Irma, and Sabatino.

Frank was born on August 8, 1944, in Altavilla, Avalino Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1967, where he worked in the mines as an electrician. He met his then wife Tuovi in Thunder Bay and married in 1976. He lived in Toronto, Lethbridge, and Thunder Bay before settling in Winnipeg in the eighties. At this time, he started his own business, selling and servicing vacuums for 25 years. He loved meeting people and travelled all over Canada and the United States. He enjoyed gardening, barbecuing, and loved Italian food and wine. He also enjoyed many genres of music, from rock and roll to opera and dabbled in playing guitar and piano. When he retired, he became caretaker of an apartment building in which he cared for many residents in downtown Winnipeg who will remember his big personality. He loved his dog Poochie and could be seen walking in Kildonan Park daily.

He will be greatly missed by his extended family which all reside in Italy and his three daughters who reside in Winnipeg, Halifax and London UK.

A private service will be held by the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
