My husband was one of Dr. Schroeder's patients. He was gruff, to the point, and always said I could ask him anything. I made an appointment with him by myself while my husband was in radiation therapy at the beginning of our journey, and when I brought out my booklet and list of questions he looked at me and asked me what I did for a living. He respected that I fought for my husbands care, and I think sometimes I irritated him with my demands, but he jokingly called me 'the pain in the ass Scammell' but always honoured my wishes and questions. He was a great man, my husband is alive because of his dedication to his work, and I sincerely thank him. He shook our hands many times, and came to see us for our check ups. My husband has been in remission for 4 years now, and I believe it's because of Dr. Schroeder and the fact that he listened to us as people, not just as patients. Thank you Dr. Schroeder. Shine down on us and keep smiling.
