GEORGE BARRIE KIRKHOPE

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Barrie on Saturday, Sept 7 at Concordia Hospital, with his family by his side, at the age of 89 years.

Barrie leaves to mourn, his daughter Laurie Bauschke (Mark Elste) and grandchildren, Brittany Crawford (Jeremie), Kaityln Bauschke (Brendan Rattai), and Kristi Bauschke: Son Doug (Evelyn) Kirkhope of Ballantynes Cove, NS, and their children, Bradley Kirkhope (David MacGillivray) (Vancouver), and Jenna (Cody) Eastgaard (Calgary).

Barrie was predeceased by his Wife (Marlene) in 2016, married for 57 years, and after, connected with his lifelong friend and partner Vivian Wangen, who recently passed March 2024. Barrie loved family cottage life, with a cottage at Sandy Hook, MB, and later at Lester Beach with Vivian. He has a successful work life, working in the equipment business at Kipp Kelly (1960 – 1970), Powell Equipment (1970 – 1980), Prime power & Diesels 1980 – 1988, and ended his career with Cummins Western Canada (1988 to 1999).

A special thanks to the staff at Irene Baron Eden Center for their endless caring provided to Barrie, as well as the family and friends of Vivian Wangen. Barrie was liked and loved by all.

A family celebration of life will be held at the cabin next summer.
