GERALD ANTHONY HAWKINS March 7, 1925 – February 20, 2013 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Dad passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg, MB at the age of 87 years. Left to cherish Gerald’s memory are his four sons, Bud (Maureen), Sheldon (Joanne), Dale (Cathy) and Brad (Donna); as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Maevis in 2011 and his son Bob in 2013. Dad was a kind hearted man with a great sense of humour, always having a joke or two to share with anyone who would listen. He worked for Labatts and ABD (BDL) for many years until he retired which left him more time to do the things he loved: travelling, sports, gardening and reading. Dad was also a long time member of the Rockwood ANAF Unit 303 where he met many great friends over the years. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially cats. There was never a time where there wasn’t a cat or two in the house either sitting on his lap or laying across his shoulders. In compliance with Dad’s wishes, there will be no service. The family would like to thank Dr. S. Robillard, CancerCare Manitoba, and the wonderful staff on 5 South at the Victoria Hospital for all your kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
