GERRIT VAN KESSEL Peacefully, after a brief illness, it is with deep regret we announce the death of Gerrit Van Kessel who died on Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 80 years. Left to forever cherish Gerrit’s memory are his son Derek; as well as close friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his wife Helen; father; mother; brother and sister. Gerrit was born and raised in the Netherlands. He entered the Army professionally and later the Air Force. He completed advanced pilot training receiving his wings with the R.C.A.F. Soon thereafter he immigrated to Canada. He was successfully employed with Canada Wire and Cable/Superior Cable for 37 years. Over that time he was a machine operator, foreman, and QC inspector. Gerrit was a wonderful family man and a great story teller. He enjoyed travelling, fishing, camping, bowling, puzzles, model making, pets, and wine making. In compliance with Gerrit’s wishes there will be no Funeral Service.
