GERTRUDE ELEANOR HUNT
(nee ROSS)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Gertrude (Gertie) Hunt (nee Ross), announce her peaceful passing at Lyon’s Manor Care Home on December 16, 2022, at the age 81 years. Gertie was born to the late Ira and Dorothy Ross on July 10, 1941, in Dauphin, Manitoba.

In 1967, Gertie met and married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Hunt. She loved being outdoors, especially on her front porch, where she could frequently be seen chatting up the neighbors as they walked by. She was an avid craftsperson. Gertie would spend hours creating quilts for newborn babies in the neonatal intensive care unit. In later years, she would craft and donate hats to the Cancer Care Unit at HSC.

Gertie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Barry (Diane) and children Tracy, Travis; son, Raymond and his son Thomas: sisters Margaret and Mabel; great-grandchildren, Bristol and Margot as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Ira and Dorothy Ross, her sister Olive and her late husband of 49 years Robert (Bob) Hunt.

The family wants to thank the Management and Staff at Lyons Manor Care Home, and the multiple friends and family members for all their support. As to honour Gertie’s request there will not be a memorial or funeral service. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations in Gertie’s memory may be made to the MS Society, 100-1465 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, MB R3T 1L8, or a charity of your choice.
