He was the fifth of eight children. Harvey was predeceased by both parents, daughter Jamie Lee and sister Thelma DeGueldre. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Wendy, sons Wesley (Carol), Darby (Shaundra), Lorne (Karen), Chad (Melissa) and daughter Hope (Brent). Harvey has seven grandchildren, Cadence, Sabine, Clayton, Samantha, Stephanie, Landen and Braxton. Also, remaining are Harvey’s siblings, Jacqueline Glowatsky, Pat Balasko (Alan), Earl (Bearadetta), Henry (Janice), Paulette (Gerard), Albert (Charlene) and brother-in-law, Andre DeGueldre. Also fondly remembering Harvey are many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Harvey attended technical school to become a mechanic, a career which served him well for most of his life. As a trained GM mechanic he was able to maintain everyone’s vehicles right in his own garage. His garage was his home away from home where he loved to spend time just sitting with the door open and watching the world go by. Rain, snow, sleet or hail he would be sitting in there waiting for someone to stop by to chat. He would open the back door during thunderstorms, call out Wendy and they would enjoy the spectacle of the lightning while having a beer. Harvey was a loving, kind husband, father and grandfather. He was a generous soul who loved life and the outdoors. He loved his pets in particular Rudy and Rusty who were his constant companions. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Grace Hospice for their kindness and exceptional care. In particular to Tracey and Peter who made Harvey all the wonderful meals that he fully enjoyed. Dessert first became his motto. Thanks to Ernie for his musical talents and Norm for the daily paper. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Grace Hospice, 260 Booth Drive, Winnipeg. A Celebration of Harvey’s life will take place Saturday, July 12 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Club, 1476 Main Street, Winnipeg from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.Publish Date: Jul 9, 2014   As published in the Winnipeg Free Press on July 12, 2014
