Helen A. Bischoff nee Martin

November 20, 1939 - February 19, 2018

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Bischoff, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Monday February 19, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Helen was born November 20, 1939 and was married to Harold for 52 years before his passing in 2008.

Remaining to forever cherish Helen’s memory are her children Randy and Karen (Grant); grandchildren Jason and Alanna (Cody); and great-grandchildren Aiden and Abby. She also leaves to mourn her brothers and sisters in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews and their families, son-in-law Nick and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold; parents Dymetro and Pearl Martin and her three brothers, Bill, Sammy and Raymond.

Helen worked at several jobs in her life starting with the Manitoba Home for Girls, The Bay downtown, St. Boniface Hospital and lastly helping her son run his restaurant (Chicken Chef). She was a loving, caring, generous person who was more than willing to lend an ear or shoulder to lean on for anyone who asked, a true angel on earth. Helen had a wicked sense of humor which she kept right till the end often making us laugh out loud. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Zion Lutheran Church before her illness struck.

Helen’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Luke’s Zion Church, 2903 McPhillips Street, with Pastor Lynne Hutchison presider, followed by a light lunch. A private family interment will be held in the Kildonan Presbyterian Cemetery at a later date.

A special thank you to those of you who took the time to visit with Helen during her illness, we really appreciated it. Also, a special thank you to Mirriam at Holy Family Nursing Home who looked after Mom like she was her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
