Hope Gibbons (nee Dzick)
October 16, 1930 – August 29, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Hope at age 94 years. Predeceased by her husband Earl of 68 years, twin sister Margaret (Stevens), parents Michael and Anna Dzick. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Cheryl (late Andrew), Glenda (Ralph), Lisa (Michael), grandchildren Lindsey (Cody), Alexis, Justin (Eva), Geena (Thomas), great grandchildren Isabella, Theodor, Lara, Elin, Sarina, and nephews Darrell (Anna), Don, and Len (“Lennie”) (Susan).

Hope was born and raised in Winnipeg’s North End to parents of Ukrainian descent. She married then lived in Dauphin and afterward spent the rest of her life in Winnipeg. She enjoyed Bomber games and Winnipeg’s many cultural events. In her youth she took Ukrainian Dance and developed a love of opera listening to the radio. Later on she performed in operettas and sang for many years in the St. John’s Cathedral choir, learned Bridge and hosted many elegant dinners. She was an extraordinary cook and talented seamstress. Her work life included Winnipeg Electric and later on accounting. Hope enjoyed many summers with family and friends at Big Whiteshell Lake and also liked to travel.

Above all Hope loved her family. She had a heart of gold and her name describes how she approached life until the end.

We will love and miss her forever.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Misericordia Place for their care and kindness.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Hope.
