November 1, 1964 – May 13, 2015

After a brave battle against complications from an autoimmune disease, David Ian MacLeod, (Ian) fifty years of age, passed away in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. A graduate of the Law Program at the University of Manitoba, Ian lived a significant part of his life with his friends and colleagues in Vancouver, British Columbia and recently moved to Winnipeg to complete his Masters in Law.
Ian had a long and distinguished career with Indian Affairs and the Federal Government. He was respected by First Nations, BC Government representatives and federal colleagues alike.
Ian was a force of energy with a wicked sense of intelligent humor. He was loved and admired by the many lives he touched. He will be greatly missed by his numerous good friends and loving family including mother Heather, father Blair, brother Kyle and sister in law Sharon Doig, sister Tracey and brother in law Eldon Sebelius and sister Janet and brother in law Larry Gurtler. He will also be missed by nieces Ciara, Carly and Marcede Sebelius, niece and nephew Kara and Owen MacLeod and nephew Max Gurtler.
A private memorial service will be held in Winnipeg on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 followed by a life celebration in Vancouver to be announced at a later date.
