Our family would frequent J and H for breakfast on the weekends. We loved the food and the warm and inviting family atmosphere. John made the best breakfast potatoes ever. We were really sad when J and H closed down as we all got to know John and Spiro over the years. Our condolences to all the family. So sorry for your loss. Diane and Rockford McKay

We are so sad to hear about the loss of John. Our memories of all the good times will always live in our hearts. I always felt so at home at the J&H Restaurant, it is a place that meant so much to me from my childhood through my adulthood. I spent many birthdays and milestones at the restaurant. When my now-husband first came here on a visit from England, J&H was one of the first places I brought him to. I will always cherish the memories. RIP John, thank you for all the kindness and amazing food. Sending love to the whole family <3 I will always cherish my memories.

My sincere condolences to Helen, Spiro, Harry, and Peggy on this enormous loss. I learned about it from my dad, Gerry, who is a retired school administrator and was often at the Manitoba Teachers’ Society building, right next door to John and Helen’s fantastic Greek diner, the former J&H Restaurant. He got to know them and brought me and my brother by for occasional visits. Later, as an adult, I stopped in for a bite with my husband and we were greeted with the same warm hospitality from Spiro that my father, brother, and I had received previously from John, who I’m sure made a lasting impression on countless people.
