IRENA DANUTA RUCKI

(JULY 25,1924-AUGUST 6^TH, 2023)

With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mama, Mama-in-law, Babciu and Pra-Babciu. Irena (Donna) was pre-deceased by her parents, three brothers, Jerzy, Ryszek, Zbyzek and her husband, Aleksander, the great love of her life.

She is survived by her son, Julius (Marie), her grandchildren, Christina (Ray), Michael (Reagan), and Bradley, her great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Clayton, Lucas, Aleksander and Sydney. Along the way she acquired a new son and daughter in Brian & Judy, two grandchildren, Cameron (Tara) and Leslie and three great grandchildren, Jolene, Paige and Everett. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and family in Poland.

Irena was born in Poland and came to Canada with her husband and son in 1961 in hopes of a better life, away from communism. She found it! They purchased property in Bear Paw Estates in 1971 and began building a cottage that would see many happy family times. This was her happy place, where she tenderly looked after her flowers and grew vegetables. In her later years she went around the property and played a game of pick-up sticks! Six kids will remember, with great fondness, hearing the yell of “CANE”. They would stop whatever they were doing to go find Babciu’s cane, that she had left someplace, but couldn’t remember where that someplace was!

Mama hated cooking, even though she was good at it, but loved baking. Her family, especially grandchildren would devour her sharlotka. We will all remember her shaking her finger at us and saying “Ja ci dam”. Everyone she ever met she treated with kindness. She loved all without bias.

We would like to extend our thanks and great appreciation to the staff of Golden West Lodge, especially the staff on the third floor who took such loving care of our Mama, Babciu, and Pra-Babciu.

Her laugh will be missed, but she is with her great love, holding hands once again! She was ready, even if we were not…

A Private family service will be held on August 21^st.
